Biography

I love my life as a photographer and believe it shows in my work.

I've been in the advertising and design business for 46 years, 30 years as an art director. But my passion was always photography. I worked with many great photographers and cinematographers, learned many valuable lessons and had a lot of fun. When it stopped being fun, I retired and became a full time photographer. I haven't regretted a day since.

I work with all types of cameras, both digital and film. Color works especially well with digital media. In black and white I still prefer film, using a variety of cameras of various vintages in formats from 35mm to 8 x 10. I do all of my own darkroom work which gives me total control from start to finish.

As a former art director (and a picky one, at that) I understand what you are looking for, why you want it, and all of the politics involved.

Here are some of my credits in award show annuals:

• Communication Arts Photography Annual 40 & 41

• Communication Arts Design Annual 38, 39, 40, 41 & 42

• British Design Annual 1999, 2000 & 2001

• Art Directors Annual Nos. 75, 76, 77, 78 & 79

For the curious, you'll find numerous samples of my work as an art director in old CA, Art Directors Club and One Show annuals.

Let's see our names together in the credits of next year's annuals.
